Mammal: Amazonian Manatee

MorphologyAmazonian manatees are the smallest and most slender of the three manatee species. Manatees have a hippo-like snout and flippers instead of forelimbs. They have bilateral symmetry, and instead of back legs they have a flat paddle.

BiologyA special feature about the Amazonian manatee is its upper lip. Their lip is divided into half and both can move by itself when they're feeding. Also manatees have flat rounded paddle-like tails. They move their tails up and down to swim.
